About Us:

The Potting Shed began in November of 1997 in a 3 story historic building downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. The “Shed” was a full-service retail flower shop. Although, the retail “shed” has since closed, we continue on with our passion for flowers and weddings running the business out of our homes. Together, we have 27 years experience designing flowers with backgrounds in interiors, fashion and the arts. Our desire is to always create the most beautiful flowers for our brides keeping in mind, quality of design, flower availability, and budgets of all sizes. Our motto is that “there is no bad flower, just bad application”. We hope that our passion and excitement shines through in our work and attitude about each and every wedding that we design. We realize that each bride is unique and desires a distinctive wedding that reflects the personality of her self and future husband, so we make it our goal to help the reflection of that dream become a reality.

The Process:

We take consultations by appointment only. Please contact us to make arrangements. Expect to spend a minimum of 1 hour for your consultation. The initial consultation will be an opportunity to go over what your floral needs and desires are. We will then take approximately 1 week to get the first proposal to you. If you decide to book with us, your retainer is a $200.00 non-refundable deposit. This deposit holds the date of your wedding and is used toward the balance of your total flower cost. You can make changes to this proposal up to 3 weeks prior to your wedding date. A 50% installment is due 1 month prior to your wedding date and the balance is due the week of your wedding date.

After your initial deposit is received, we are happy to meet with you as many times as needed to get all of the fine details accomplished. We will also gladly meet with you at your venue site to help you visualize your day.

The day of the wedding we will be delivering your floral creations, setting up your ceremony and reception sites, showing you and your attendants how to hold your bouquets for pictures and pinning on boutonnieres and corsages. This ensures that your day is exactly how you dreamed it to be.

Pricing:

Since each wedding is distinctive, we do not have a general pricing sheet. Each of our weddings is designed and orchestrated by your ‘floral artist’ especially for you. We pride ourselves in the fact that we have never created the same bridal bouquet more than once.
